Cambridge Southern Fringe Landscape and Open Space Strategy
Preparation of a Landscape and Open Space Strategy to support the planned major residential development sites of Cambridge Southern Fringe. Two strategic areas of green space form part of the development area: a green corridor between Hobson’s Brook and the London-Cambridge rail line, and a country park adjacent to the River Cam. The detailed strategy considered the major open spaces and links into the development sites, the city and surrounding countryside. The process involved compilation and review of environmental, ecological, recreational data relating to the open spaces and surroundings and consultation with developers and local interest groups.
Proposals were developed with consideration given to biodiversity, ecology and access and recommendations provided for ownership, management and maintenance arrangements, together with approximate implementation costs.
