Redesign and refurbishment of local authority play area associated with youth centre, with funding from Neighbourhood Renewal initiative, based on complementing Key Stage 3 curriculum and enhancing personal and social development of young people.
A now very popular skate park was a key component of the design in order to target the needs of a key identified age group of 11 to 16 years. The scheme also aimed to reduce the anti-social behaviour dominance of certain local demographic groups of youths, in favour of encouraging use by wider community; improve access; and address concerns of neighbouring residents. Public and stakeholder consultation was central to the design process.
