Onshore Grid Infrastructure
Our market sector lead has undertaken feasibility, alternative site appraisals and assessment work for a range of proposed new substation developments and cable connection routes associated with offshore wind farm developments. He has also been involved in supporting developments through the appeals and examination process and, following a successful consent, then taking forward the proposed landscape mitigation and enhancement plans to detailed design, including earthworks modelling.
Other recent notable work includes a Final Needs Case Assessment of the new grid connection route from Hinkley Point to Seabank Power Station at Avonmouth undertaken on behalf of Ofgem. The proposed overhead grid connection is to utilise the Danish-designed competition-winning new ‘T’ pylon which will follow a route across the Somerset Levels and through the nationally protected Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
