Appraisal of public open space within Epping Forest District Council in accordance with PPG17 guidelines. Project was undertaken jointly with a specialist leisure management consultancy and comprised an open space, sports and recreation assessment for the district in accordance with the advice and requirements of PPG17.
The purpose of the project was to form part of the evidence base for the council’s Local Plan and provide robust information on which to develop policies relating to the provision of open space and adequate provision for sport and recreation. The study included an audit of existing open spaces within the district, analysis of local needs and development of local standards for all types of green space, sporting and recreational facilities. Shortfalls and surpluses were identified together with strategic options and policies for addressing these.
