Major redevelopment of a former industrial area adjacent to the Hertford Union Canal, to include a dense, vibrant mix of artist studios, retail, and 850 unit residential development set within a series of yards, green spaces, play spaces, public spaces and urban squares. The Landscape Partnership prepared a Townscape and Visual Impact Assessment, which formed part of the Environmental Statement for the scheme and worked with architects to develop a masterplan for the site and detailed landscape proposals for the first phase of the development. Proposals included a play street, rooftop gardens, canal-side amenity space and a large public square. The designs reflected the industrial heritage of the site and local area and included proposals to work with local artists and businesses to develop street furniture for the site.
