The Landscape Partnership has undertaken studies for a range of energy projects to both help inform appropriate development at a strategic scale and to achieve optimum development of sites. The practice has produced a number of sensitivity and capacity studies for wind turbines for local planning authorities, including Fenland District, Huntingdonshire District and Rutland County. These have formed part of evidence bases and been used to assess the suitability of individual planning applications. We jointly authored a Low Carbon Energy Capacity study for the East of England, working with AECOM. This study collated local authority level data based on a nationwide DECC methodology to inform the evidence base and thereafter to guide the delivery of renewable and low carbon energy developments across the region.
Our expertise has also helped to secure consents following earlier refusals, and to inform and steer potential energy development so as to limit significant effects upon landscape character, the visual environment and visual receptors.
