The Marston Vale Millennium Country Park created a vibrant focus for the Forest of Marston Vale, one of England’s community forests. The park is sited on former brick-clay extraction pits near Stewartby. The Landscape Partnership produced the masterplan proposals for the country park, developed landscape details and, together with civil and structural engineers, oversaw implementation of the project.
The 260ha country park was opened in 2000 and includes established wetland areas of ecological and educational significance, areas of native woodland and new species-rich grassland. The park also provides a setting for an imaginative forest centre, providing a cafe, exhibition space, conference facility, sensory gardens and an information hub with links to new trails including 8km of cycleways, 10.5km of footpaths and 4km of horse trails within the park.
