Preparation of a landscape and visual appraisal of a proposed anaerobic digestor near Consett in County Durham. The client sought planning consent for a 1MW biogas plant to be fed on a mix of maize, wholecrop and grass, and designed to generate both power and heat for a local energy consumer.
Photomontages were produced to assess the visual influence of the scheme and the appraisal considered the visual effect of the proposal on both the local and wider area, including sensitive landscapes and public viewpoints from the approach to the neighbouring town. Landscape proposals were prepared to assist with the mitigation of landscape and visual effects. and The plant was consented and is now operational.
