Site suitability assessment including; landscape and visual appraisals and public consultation for a park and ride facility to the east of Ipswich.
Coordination of an Environmental Impact Assessment and subsequent Environmental Statement to accompany the planning application for the chosen site. Detailed design included measures to mitigate potential impacts of the scheme on the sensitive site (which included part of a County Wildlife Site and was on the edge of a Special Landscape Area). Sustainable materials and techniques were at the forefront of the design, and included; permeable paving and sustainable urban drainage schemes (SUDS) to negate the need for positive drainage, installation of a green roof for the terminal building, a reed bed filtration system to process fowl water, careful use of materials, and the specification of plant species that would maximise ecological value and be able to cope with the adverse site conditions with minimum additional irrigation.
