An £18 million package of measures to enhance sustainable transport provision in Ipswich. The practice worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing landscape and townscape advise and guidance from the development of concepts through to implementation. A key aim was to enhance the visual and physical linkages through the town, connect disparate parts of the town in a sustainable manner, and promote walking and cycling routes.
Projects included the realignment of the town’s Civic Drive/Princes Street junction to improve pedestrian flows and create a greatly enhanced and extended public realm. This included resurfacing, widened pedestrian footways, dedicated cycle lanes, planting mature trees, and rationalising street furniture, all within the setting of Norman Foster’s Grade I Listed Willis Building.
