The Woodbridge office undertakes a wide range of projects including parks, public realm and urban regeneration; schools and universities; renewable energy, transport and infrastructure; strategic and detail design for residential development. Projects are undertaken from inception, through the planning process, to detail design and implementation, and many require close working between our in-house landscape architects, spatial planners, arboriculturists, ecologists and graphic designers. We also carry out landscape and visual impact assessments, environmental impact assessment and strategic landscape appraisals, and act as expert witness for a mix of urban, rural and coastal sites.

Woodbridge is an attractive historic market town with a boating tradition, located on the River Deben in Suffolk, within easy reach of Ipswich and Colchester, and with rail links to Norwich, Chelmsford and London.

We are currently seeking to fill the following position:

Arboricultural Consultant

The Landscape Partnership is looking to recruit a full-time Arboricultural Consultant to join the arboricultural team to help deliver and develop our growing workload for a broad client base. The arb team provides support to TLP multidisciplinary teams based in our four offices. The role involves travel to a variety of sites and attendance at development team meetings with other specialists and client representatives. The successful candidate will operate under the direction of our Arboricultural Associate Director and be involved in a wide range of projects involving: pre-development tree surveys, post-approval implementation of arboricultural conditions and general tree management. The post is based in Woodbridge although opportunities exist in our other offices for the right candidate.

The position would suit an Arboriculturist from the private or local government sectors who is currently a field surveyor or assistant tree officer. The post could also provide an excellent opportunity for an individual with initiative who seeks to progress their career as an arboricultural consultant in a multi-disciplinary consultancy. The role may also provide an opportunity to become involved in some seasonal protected species surveys working with our Ecologists. We offer the opportunity to join a friendly and committed team of professionals. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Job requirements:
  • National Diploma in Arboriculture, Degree or equivalent qualification
  • working knowledge of BS 5837:2012 and tree related legislation
  • working knowledge of protected tree legislation
  • good tree identification skills
  • understanding of tree defects and disorders
  • good report writing skills with attention to detail
  • good communication skills and positive approach to problem solving
  • good IT skills including Word, Excel and AutoCAD
  • interest in promoting Arboriculture in a professional environment
  • valid driving licence

  • Experience:
  • ArborCAD NB training can be provided
  • AxciScape NB training can be provided
